The company must have its operational headquarters in Wallonia and be pursuing an international project that generates added value for the Walloon economy, and have total equity and long-term debt exceeding €100,000.

Terms and conditions

Maximum amount

The grant is a maximum of €80,000.

Contribution

Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) covers 80% of the total project costs incurred by the company in designing and implementing the project.

Advance

Following notification of the grant decision, Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) pays the beneficiary company an advance payment equivalent to 75% of the grant.

Balance

The balance is paid once the project has been completed and no later than two years after the date of notification of the grant award.

How can you submit an application?

Applications for grants are made by completing the form during the application period set by the Agency.

Applicants’ projects are examined against the selection criteria by a Selection Committee. The Committee issues an advisory opinion on the quality of the projects presented and their leverage effect on the company and the Walloon economy.

The decision to award the grant is made directly by the Minister for Foreign Trade, on the basis of the Selection Committee’s reasoned opinion and within the limits of the available credit.

This is a ‘De Minimis’ aid measure within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EU) No 2023/2831 of 13 December 2023.

How to submit the request for payment of the grant balance

Once the project has been fully completed and no later than two years after the date of notification of the grant award, the applicant must submit the following to the Agency for settlement of the remaining grant balance:

  • a business report on the implementation and impact of the strategic project for International expansion on the company and on the Walloon Region;
  • a statement of eligible costs incurred;
  • a statement of claim for payment of the balance of the grant.

In the event that the project has not been fully completed by the end of the two-year period granted, the company may be required to repay the full amount of any sums already received as an advance.

The applicant reimburses the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) for the part of the grant received which exceeds the amount justified by the admissible supporting documents.
