Explort trainee

A multilingual trainee, with international trade experience, will support you for 2 to 3 months in the market of your choice to prospect, identify partners or test your export opportunities. This programme is aimed at Walloon companies wishing to accelerate their international development with the support of young talents selected and mentored by Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX).

Scheme

Simple conditions, tailored to Walloon SMEs

The explort programme is designed to fit seamlessly into the reality of exporting businesses. Each company can host up to two trainees per year, provided that only one is on assignment abroad at any one time.

The assignment is defined jointly with Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX), within a clear and transparent framework:

Only one assignment is permitted per country or region for the same product or service.
As a general rule, an assignment covers a single country, unless there are duly justified exceptions.
Each assignment is covered by a three-way agreement between Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX), the company and the trainee.
No social security contributions are payable: the trainee retains their original status.
Workplace accident insurance is covered by Forem (jobseeker profile) or by the educational institution (student profile).

Financing

A controlled investment thanks to Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) support

The explort scheme benefits from shared funding: Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) covers the majority of the costs associated with the trainee’s stay abroad via a weekly grant (ranging from €350 to €550, depending on the destination country, paid for a maximum of 12 weeks).

The company contributes only to specific items:

A lump sum of €1,000 to contribute towards living expenses.
Return flight tickets, visas and local travel.
Any prospecting costs, such as registration for a trade fair or equipment hire.
No administrative fees are envisaged.

Every explort project begins with the international objectives defined with the company.

You benefit from a trained, supervised and motivated trainee, ready to dedicate themselves to your target market while delivering real added value.

The assignment is structured in four stages:

Project definition: you set the objectives and destination with the trainee.
Preparatory training: they undertake a certified module in international trade.
Immersion in a company: there is an integration period in Wallonia before they head off abroad.
Assignment abroad: the trainee works on your behalf for 2 to 3 months, then submits a comprehensive final report on their return.
