The Walloon Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) have launched a certification programme in sustainable entrepreneurship for all companies established in Wallonia. This certification consists of a programme of at least 30 actions covering the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals over a period of three years. At the end of the programme, the company is certified with the UNITAR label (UN agency for sustainable development), providing international recognition.
In addition, the Chambers offer companies an internal reporting channel solution as defined by the European Whistleblower Protection Directive and its transposition into Belgian law.

This approach is directly in line with the principles of good governance set out in SDG 16. Companies with a reporting policy foster a culture of transparency, ethics and communication. They are also better able to detect fraud or internal irregularities more quickly, which benefits overall productivity.
