Eligibility criteria

The application must always be submitted at the tender stage
The application must have previously received support from the SME Instrument of FINEXPO
The project must have a Walloon component of at least 50%
The application for matching funding must be submitted to the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) International Financing Committee, which decides whether or not to grant the FINEXPO matching grant.
If the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) International Financing Committee approves the application, a ‘Letter of Intent’ setting out the conditions for the grant of the matching fund is sent to the company.

Payment of the grant

The Walloon company submits a claim for settlement via a statement of claims, which will be sent to it by email upon request, accompanied by the annexes mentioned in the agreement in principle.

When does the company have to submit its application?

What are the payment terms for the grant?

The grant is paid directly to the company established in Wallonia.

The company may request an advance of 15% of the contract amount covered by the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) grant after signing the commercial contract. This advance will be deducted from subsequent invoices, but cannot be deducted from the final invoice.

The final invoice must be for at least 25% of the grant amount awarded; no deduction of the advance is permitted on the final invoice.
This invoice may only be submitted to Finexpo once the project has been fully and completely implemented (including delivery, installation and commissioning). It must be accompanied by a final report, countersigned by the client, on the completion of the project and the report from the auditor responsible for verifying the project accounts.

Payments are made upon receipt of the following documents sent by the beneficiary company to AWEX: the statement of claims, the invoice, the invoice addressed to FINEXPO, proof of payment from FINEXPO and the report on the progress of the project.
